Right now, critically endangered whooping cranes are facing one of their biggest threats yet.
Just a few days ago, Big Oil began to dramatically step up their activities to push for approval of the Keystone XL pipeline, which would carry toxic tar sands oil right through crucial habitat for the cranes.
The Keystone XL pipeline would increase the import of Canadian tar sands oil to the United States by as much as one million barrels per day. Its approval would mean… a huge setback for whooping cranes by putting them at risk of a toxic oil disaster.
This Keystone XL Pipeline is certainly creating a lot of news in the wildlife arena. As with any controversy, it’s always wise to research both sides before making up your mind. We just wanted to alert you to the Canadian oil sands project…
